Is it safe to eat Grillies cheeses raw?
Absolutely! You can eat them fresh, just as you would any other cheese.
Do I need a grill to prepare Grillies cheeses at home?
No! A grill is just one of many options.
You can fry them in a skillet, with or without oil, bake them in the oven and even cook them on waffle iron.
Do I need OIL TO PREPARE GRILLIES CHEESES?
Oil is optional, depending on the dish you are creating as well as the cooking method you are using. If you choose to use oil, the crust will be thicker than if cooking without oil.

How are the cheeses made?
Our cheeses are made in just a few simple steps:
High-quality pasteurized milk is added to the cheese vat.
Cheese cultures, enzymes and non-animal rennet are added for taste and to coagulate the milk into cheese curds.
Salt is then added for flavor and overall cheese functionality. Traces of mint are added to our Halloumi, chilis to our spicy Halloumi and jalapeño peppers are added to our spicy Grilling Cheese.
Cheese curds are pressed into shape forming a cheese block.
The cheese goes through a proprietary heating process that gives the cheese its non-melting attribute.
What are the ingredients in the cheeses?
Grillies cheeses are made from all-natural ingredients.
Our Halloumi is made with pasteurized milk, salt, non-animal rennet, and traces of mint. Our Grilling Cheeses are made with pasteurized milk, cheese cultures, salt, and enzymes.
Jalapeño peppers are added to our spicy Grilling Cheese and chillies are added to our spicy Halloumi.

Are the cheeses made from all-natural ingredients?
Yes, all of our cheeses are made from completely natural ingredients.
What is non-animal rennet?
Rennet is an essential ingredient in many cheeses that transforms the solids in liquid milk into the curds that become cheese. Grillies uses a natural vegetable rennet in all of our products.
Are the cheeses made with pasteurized or raw milk?
Grillies products are made from pasteurized milk and can be enjoyed by everyone, including pregnant women.
Why don’t they melt?
The curds for our cheeses are cooked at very high temperatures so they are able to withstand melting. No chemicals are added!
We produce our Halloumi following traditional methods that have been used in Cyprus. We use a similar proprietary process to create our domestic Grilling Cheeses so they don’t melt when cooked.
Are Grillies cheeses vegetarian? Are they vegan?
Our cheeses are 100% vegetarian, but not vegan, since they are made from milk. Think of them as tastier versions of tofu.
Are the cheeses kosher?
Our Grilling Cheeses are certified kosher. At this time, our Halloumi is not.
How long is the shelf life of the cheeses?
All of our cheeses have a shelf life of 18 months from the date of production. Standard cheeses have live (good!) bacterial cultures that allow cheese to develop flavor with age, but that also affect the perishability of cheese. Because of our proprietary heating and cooling process, there is no further culture activity in our cheeses after they are produced, which enhances their shelf life.
How long do the cheeses keep after I open the packaging?
If you put our cheeses in a Ziploc bag or airtight container after you open them, they can last up to five days in the fridge.
