Grillies Bread Buns


These cheesy little buns are a comfort food and a crowd-pleaser all rolled into one. Enjoy them on their own, or use them to sop up soup and salad dressing.

  • 17.6 ozwhite bread flour

  • 1 TspSalt

  • 3.3 ozbutter

  • 0.4 ozdried yeast

  • 1 Tspsugar

  • 8.3 ozmilk

  • 8.3 ozGrillies (cut in 1cm cubes)

  • A pinch of dried spearmint

  1. In a pan, heat the milk until lukewarm. Add the sugar and yeast, stir to dissolve and leave until the mixture is frothy.

  2. Melt the butter in low heat and put in a mixer bowl with the flour and salt. Mix well, add the yeast mixture and knead for 5 minutes until smooth.

  3. Remove the dough from the mixer bowl and gently work in the Grillies cubes and spearmint.

  4. Roll the dough into a cord of approximately 1.5in diameter and cut in pieces 2in long.

  5. On an oven tray (covered in baking sheet) arrange the dough pieces in circles, starting from the centre and going outwards.

  6. Cover with a clean cloth and leave to rise in a warm place for approx. 1 hour.

  7. Bake at 350°F for about 1 hour.
